The car theory exam consists of 50 questions. To pass you need at least 44 correct (88%), within 30 minutes. At AmadeosTheorie you practise with exams built the same way, so you know what to expect on exam day.

Since 7 April 2025 the car theory exam contains 50 questions instead of 65 and the separate sections have been merged into a single exam. Since 1 October 2026 the questions about driver-assistance systems (ADAS) focus more on how to use these systems safely. The number of questions stays at 50.

ADAS questions are about driver-assistance systems in modern cars, such as adaptive cruise control, lane sensors and emergency brake assistants. Since 1 October 2026 they are mainly about safe driving behaviour: when to use such a system and when to take over yourself. There is no separate section for them. At AmadeosTheorie you will find ADAS within the theory, among other places in the chapter Mobility and environment.

That depends on the package you choose. Each package has its own duration (the number of days you have access) and a fixed number of full exams you may take within that period. In addition, you work through the theory chapter by chapter and practise with the mini-exams per chapter; those do not count towards your exam limit. You will find the exact duration and number of exams with our theory packages.

Yes, AmadeosTheorie is fully mobile. The platform works smoothly on phone, tablet and laptop and there is nothing to install. Your progress is saved everywhere, so you seamlessly pick up where you left off, on the bus, on the couch or in between.

Yes. Just like the real exam, you do not see during the exam whether your answer is right. Afterwards you get an explanation for every question in your results overview. There you can read, per question, why an answer is right or wrong, so you truly understand the traffic rules instead of guessing, and you know what to practise next.

A passed car theory certificate is valid for 1.5 years. Within that period you have to pass your practical exam. If you do not manage in time, you have to retake the theory exam. So plan your driving lessons in such a way that you can take your driving test well within the validity period.

The regular car theory exam costs € 50.50 per attempt at the CBR (2026 rate, raised from € 48.75). The CBR sets this price and adjusts it annually, so always check cbr.nl for the current rate. These exam costs are separate from your practice package at AmadeosTheorie.

You have 30 minutes for the 50 questions. If you take the exam with extra time, with an interpreter or with individual supervision, you have 45 minutes. The practice exams at AmadeosTheorie have no time limit, so you can think calmly about each question.
